75th anniversary of the Dresden Park Railway

At a glance

Railroad noises and clouds of smoke: from April to October, the Dresden Park Railway runs on six kilometers of track at five stations along the most beautiful corners of the Großer Garten. On April 13, 2025, the Dresden Park Railway begins its 75th running season. This special anniversary year has some highlights in store. On June 1, 2025, a big children's festival will be celebratedOn September 6 and 7, 2025, a steam locomotive meeting is planned to celebrate the 100th birthday of the steam locomotives "Lis" and "Moritz". The anniversary is primarily intended to highlight the children's and youth work
at the park railroad. Over 100 children and young people have found a special hobby there and are firmly involved in the operation of the railroad. They are train drivers, conductors, barrier attendants or dispatchers. What exactly do the children learn during their training as park railwaymen? How does this training work? What makes the hobby so fascinating? The redesigned main station "An der Gläsernen Manufaktur" opens just in time for the start of the season. Waiting times are made more pleasant by new seating and play stations for children, and train tracking shows when the next Liliput train will arrive. All the other stations on the route have also been given a makeover. Facts and history of the park railroad, technical
processes of the railroad operation, railroad technology, the people who are important to the park railroad - at every station, guests encounter new stories to participate in, touch and experience. The season ends on October 31, 2025.
