From December 3, 2025, the Friedenskirche in Leipzig Gohlis will be transformed into a monumental experience of light, sound and emotion. With ENLIGHTENMENT, the Zurich-based artist collective PROJEKTIL is bringing an immersive production to Germany that combines music, architecture and visual art in a unique way. The sacred space becomes the stage for an audiovisual poetry in which projections, compositions and spatial perception merge into an intense overall experience.
Vivaldi in a new dimension
The focus is on a contemporary interpretation of Vivaldi's "Four Seasons". The well-known works were rearranged and recorded especially for ENLIGHTENMENT in order to translate the baroque sound cosmos into a modern, visual narrative. The interplay of sound and image lends the familiar compositions new depth and topicality. ENLIGHTENMENT is a homage to the cycle of life, told in six chapters: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter form the dramaturgical structure of a journey that deals with development, realization and inner transformation. The sequence of seasons becomes an emotional compass and culminates in a finale that brings together colors, shapes and sounds in a powerful fusion.

The Friedenskirche church in the Gohlis district, with its striking neo-Gothic architecture, provides the ideal basis for this expansive light composition. The precise use of mapping technology creates the impression that the space itself is beginning to tell stories. The building fabric is not only illuminated, but also activated as part of the artistic expression - a dialog between space, history and the present.
International appeal - artistic intention
Leipzig is part of a worldwide tour with which PROJEKTIL has been setting new standards for immersive art formats for years. What began in Zurich in 2019 has developed into a global cultural project that has already inspired hundreds of thousands of visitors in cities such as New York, São Paulo and Brisbane. ENLIGHTENMENT is building on this success story and is now bringing the format to Saxony for the third time.
The premiere will take place on December 3, 2025 in the Friedenskirche Leipzig Gohlis.
The performances will run until January 25, 2026 on selected evenings.
