After the conversion of the former car dealership, there is now an open kitchen on 220m² in the center of the NETZ plant. Three cooking areas with modern equipment offer space for 30 to 40 people. The adjoining seating area can accommodate 80 people and invites them to exchange ideas, collaborate and enjoy a cozy get-together. The concept is rounded off with a 400 m² event area, which offers plenty of space for cultural events or other formats.
Visitors to Chemnitz 2025 can look forward to the 48-hour cooking marathon from August 15 to 17, 2025, during which the region's mountain cuisine will be reinterpreted by European chefs.

With its unusual concept for a culinary meeting place, the NETZ-Werk is one of nine Makerhubs of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025. In the open workshops at Stadtwirtschaft Chemnitz and at eight locations in the Capital of Culture region, people can learn from each other and create something new together. The locations have different focuses in terms of content. The NETZ-Werk was selected as a location in 2022 in the course of an expert jury process.
The Makerhubs are an initiative of Makers, Business & Arts, a main project of the European Capital of Culture Chemnitz 2025 gGmbH, in cooperation with the Landesverband der Kultur und Kreativwirtschaft Sachsen e.V.
