A trip to the Bastei - the landmark of Saxon Switzerland - is a must when visiting the region.
The short tour past the first viewing point in the direction of Wehlgrund leads directly to the Basteiaussicht, from where visitors can enjoy a marvellous view of the meandering Elbe and the fairytale-like rocky world of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.

From the disabled parking lot on Basteistraße, we walk along the asphalt road to the Basteihotel. The path to the view then leads slightly downhill to the left of the panorama restaurant, also on a good surface. You will pass the wheelchair-accessible toilet (accessible with Eurokey). Shortly before the view, we keep left along the railing to reach it without steps. Access to the Bastei Bridge, the rock castle and the view from the Ferdinandstein is not possible in a wheelchair due to the many steps and long staircases.
The tour is also possible from the large Bastei parking lot at the junction of the Bastei road from the country road between Lohmen and Rathewalde (at the "Bastei" caravan site). A separate cycle path parallel to the road begins directly at the parking lot and only ends at the large parking lots in front of the Bastei. This adds 2.6 km to the outward and return journey.
Please note: in the Saxon Switzerland National Park, only marked trails may be used in the core zone! Fines may be imposed for non-compliance.
During the high season and at weekends, the excursion destination is very popular with tourists. It is therefore advisable to plan a visit on a weekday or early in the morning or late in the evening to enjoy the view from the new barrier-free viewing platform to the full.

The disabled parking spaces are located in the direction of Basteiaussicht behind the large parking lots! For visitors with the appropriate authorization (blue parking permit) there is a signposted exception for access to this parking lot!
This tour is also possible without problems in an e-wheelchair!
There is a disabled toilet accessible from the outside in the Panorama Restaurant building (see directions below).
Other sights in the area, such as the Bastei Bridge, the view from the Ferdinandsstein and the Neurathen rock castle, are not barrier-free!
