In the early morning hours of November 10, 1938, SA men and NSDAP members also began an unprecedented violent action against Jews in Leipzig; they committed bodily harm, destroyed religious institutions and private property. First, the main synagogue on Gottschedstraße was set on fire. Fires were also set at other synagogues and in department stores. Where there was no burning, doors, windows, and interior furnishings of buildings and shops were wrecked. Near the Parthe, close to the zoo, Jews were rounded up. The tour visits some of these locations and reports on events that occurred during the November pogrom.
