L'antica residenza estiva degli elettori e dei re sassoni ospita oggi tesori unici di arti e mestieri sassoni.
Il Palazzo di Pillnitz è circondato dagli idilliaci vigneti dell'Elbland sassone e dal corso del fiume Elba. Elettori e re di Sassonia trascorrevano qui i mesi estivi con gite in barca sul fiume o passeggiando nel bellissimo parco del palazzo.
Il Berg- und Wasserpalais ospita oggi il Museo delle Arti Decorative. Il museo illustra la storia dell'artigianato artistico regionale e internazionale di cinque secoli, dal Medioevo all'Art Nouveau e al moderno design industriale. I visitatori rimarranno stupiti dai magnifici e lussuosi manufatti della corte reale: troni dorati, mobili preziosi, pregiati vetri tagliati, tessuti pregiati e maioliche italiane, maioliche e terrecotte di Delft.
