Waldhusche Hinterhermsdorf (Sebnitz)

At a glance

Information point of the Saxon Switzerland National Park

What exactly is a Waldhusche? Or a timber giant? How does natural regeneration work and what were game fences built for in the past? The Waldhusche answers such questions in a vivid way.

The 66-hectare exhibition and adventure site near Hinterhermsdorf offers forest history lessons in the open air. Children and adults can discover stations on historical forestry work, ecological forest development and modern ideas of future forestry.

Four themed trails lead through the grounds and combine technical facilities of the old forestry with interactive elements and nature stations. Many hands-on activities invite visitors to actively explore the forest. The site offers varied and educational nature experiences, especially for families with children.

Two information points of the Saxon Switzerland National Park complete the offer: the Beizehaus and the Blockscheune with exhibition elements on the regional forest history. The Waldhusche is freely accessible and is suitable for a half-day excursion to the rear of Saxon Switzerland.
