Our hike starts at the S-Bahn station Freital-Hainsberg West. From there we cross the tracks on the Somsdorfer Straße as well as the Wilde Weißeritz on the Hainsberger Straße the Rote Weißeritz. At the left turn we go straight ahead and thus come to the station Freital-Coßmannsdorf of the Weißeritztalbahn. Now we turn right on the street "An der Kleinbahn" and walk straight ahead past the shopping center in the direction of the Rote Weißeritz. After a few hundred meters the road turns into the "Rabenauer Grund". A bridge leads us over the river, on whose bank we now keep left and upstream. To our right the rugged rock walls rise and soon we come to the rock tunnel "Nadelöhr", which inspired the painter Ludwig Richter in the 19th century to some paintings. In the river bend the narrow gorge widens a little and we pass a hydroelectric power station. Soon we pass the Arthur Lohse bridge and the entrance to the Theler gallery. The tunnel was once built to search for ore. Then we pass the legendary Nixentump, of which the legend says the following: "Here the old Nix lived, the farmers he helped unpaid. Two beautiful daughters were his, who bleached their laundry finely. But sounded from Lübau Fidelton, are to the lads they escaped. They danced free and unbound and were gone by midnight." We then continue our way along the banks of the Rote Weißeritz and arrive at the Planwiese, at the edge of which benches and tables invite you to take a rest. In spring the tasty wild garlic grows here. Following the meanders of the river, our path winds further to the Rabenau mill, where there is also a stop of the narrow-gauge railroad. The mill, which was first mentioned in a document in 1235, today houses a hotel and a restaurant. South of the mill we continue the trail through the forest and a little later cross the river. We continue to follow the river bank and soon arrive at Spechtritz, where we follow the hiking trail and pass the rest area over a pedestrian bridge to reach the Spechtritz stop.
