Bozi Dar – KalekFrom Keilberg into the Chomutov region
Bozi Dar, Zentrum
Kalek
From Bozi Dar (Gottesgab) town centre, we follow route 23 past the Neklid and Klinovec skiing areas (Keilberg 1244 m), the highest summit in the Ore Mountains. The viewing platform and the reconstructed look-out tower, reopened in 2013, offer magnificent views of the Ore Mountains and large parts of Northern Bohemia. Going past more 1,000 metre-high mountains, we take a leisurely ride to Medenec (Kupferberg), where items from the region’s mining past and minerals can be seen in a mine open to visitors. Further downhill we arrive at the Pressnitz dam, a reservoir supplying drinking water to the Eger Valley and Northern Bohemia. We turn off at the 50 metre-high dam wall and set off uphill to Jeleni Hora (Haßberg 993 m), on the German-Czech border along the hill moors to Načetin (Natschung) continuing to Kalek (Kallich), a small mountain village 700 m above sea level. The village church can be seen from afar. The stage ends in the border town.
